The Fall
2026
Acrylic and Oil Pastels on Canvas.
Framed in Victorian Ash.
33 X 37 inches.
Emerging from Bonnie’s experience of premature menopause, this work reflects on the body's capacity to hold knowledge before it can be named. This piece is a returning to previous practice where a background in contemporary dance, informs a deeply embodied visual practice. Physical movement forms an integral part of the creation process, with gesture and repetition functioning as both mark-making and bodily expression.
The work inhabits the space between sensation and understanding, when the body speaks in ways the mind has not yet learned to interpret. A quiet, earthy palette anchors the surface and is disrupted by unpredictable and untethered mark making. Created using scraping, rubbing and blending techniques, this piece depicts a desire to erase and be erased.
The Fall is showing at Nightingale Gallery from the 6th of June - 26th of June.
